A prospect is a potential customer, that is, a person who has shown interest in your brand's products or services.

In order to turn a prospect into a customer, it is necessary to educate them so that they identify what their problem is and understand the value that your company have for them, making them move forward in the sales funnel.
Therefore, a prospect should:
  • Match your persona profile and fit your market
  • Have the financial means to purchase your product or service
  • Be responsible for the purchase decision


Suspects, Prospects and Leads
In order to better understand the customer journey, it is important to clarify the different stages in the sales funnel:


Suspect
A suspect is a person who through their behavior - for example social media interactions, or website visitors - is assumed to have an interest in yourbrand, but have not yet expressed an interest (such as submitting a form).


Prospect
As previously mentioned, a prospect is a potential customer who has already shown interest in the brand, but who has not yet identified their needs. That is, they have a fit in the company, but have not yet expressed interest in a purchase.


Lead
A lead refers to anyone who has ever interacted with your brand, showing interest in your products or services, suchas filling out a form.


Tips for prospecting

  • Create the ideal profile of your prospect
  • Sending personalized emails
  • Build a presence on social media (social selling)
  • Ask your customers for referrals
